Who We Are

St. Mary’s Ediofe Girls Secondary School is a premier girls’ boarding secondary school located in Arua District, West Nile Region, Uganda. Founded in 1983, the school was established with a clear vision: to provide accessible, high-quality education for the girl child and empower young women to become responsible leaders in society.

The Girls Secondary School is a distinguished Catholic-founded, government-aided institution established through a collaboration between the local community and the Roman Catholic Church - Arua Diocese.

Rooted in faith and guided by purpose, we are more than a school - we are a community of learning, formation, and transformation.

From humble beginnings of just 80 students, St. Mary’s Ediofe Girls has grown into a vibrant institution with over 1,000 learners, shaping generations of women who contribute meaningfully to society.

With a student population of over 1,000 and a history spanning more than four decades, St. Mary’s Girls Ediofe Secondary School continues to stand as a beacon of hope, resilience, and transformation, championing the advancement of girl-child education in Uganda and beyond.

Catholic Identity and Management

St. Mary’s Ediofe Girls Secondary School operates as a government-aided institution under the stewardship of the Roman Catholic Church, specifically through the Catholic Diocese of Arua. This dual structure ensures that the school benefits from government support while preserving a strong faith-based ethos.
